The Faculty of Art and Design at the University of Lapland has years of experience in applying industrial design to different environments and strong expertise in product design, including product usability, manufacturability and economics. The Education and Development Services have decades of experience in regional development work, combining practical use of local business and the University of Lapland’s expertise and research knowledge, and building cooperation with educational institutions.

The Sámi Education Institute is a unique secondary education institution that plays a key role in the development of the Sámi region and Arctic knowledge. It provides multidisciplinary vocational training for both young people and adults, and is the only vocational school offering training in Sámi languages and culture. The Sámi Education Institute has a wealth of knowledge on resource wisdom and skills in relation to traditional livelihoods and the transmission of tacit knowledge from one generation to the next.
