The aim of the New forms of heritage wisdom project is to develop new types of innovation and product development activities in cooperation with educational institutions, creating opportunities for Arctic business to grow and develop. The main idea is to use traditional business-oriented skills to promote innovative solutions.
During the project, a new kind of cooperation between the Sámi Education Insitute, University of Lapland Industrial Design, Education and Development Services and local entrepreneurs will be established. Through applied research and design, the project will carry out collaborative pilot projects related to winter fishing and reindeer husbandry. These pilot sectors need new technologies and related knowledge and skills in changing environments. As a development activity, the project will create a resource-wise skills network through which companies will be able to develop and apply the core competences and know-how of the different educational institutions.
